Job Overview

Summary/Objective:

 

A Mid Senior Professional applies advanced knowledge of job area typically obtained through advanced education and work experience.

CAD Designer II will prepare and review 3D Modelling, 2D Fabrication Drawings and BOM with the help of Software. Handle query resolution, troubleshooting and technical deviation evaluation.

Essential Functional:

 

Responsibilities:

  • Skilled in executing mechanical design drawings and documents requirement in typical project environment (mainly for Air Separation Units, Air filtration skids, LIN/LOX/LNG storage and distribution system) in compliance to code like ASME B31.3, PESO & SMPV rules.
  • Coordination with various internal departments for project activity like Schedule alignment, PID review, Vendor drawing review, Interface review, 3D model review and status report. 
  • Should prepare overall Plant Assembly layout along with field piping and supports.
  • Good knowledge and Proficiency in 3d modelling drafting in 3d software (Plant 3D or Inventor).
  • Prepare/Revise 3d Model, Drawings & Store it in PLM Tool (Product center).
  • Submit Drawings to relevant departments by transmittal and upload on PLM tool.
  • Check drawings & BOM of junior designers prior to submission ensuring released of error free/accurate drawings to manufacturing/project team.
  • Structural (frame) modelling & drafting.
  • Preparation of Skid/Equipment foundation plan as per vendor input and customer plot plan.
  • Piping lines, equipment, valves, instruments, cable tray modelling & drafting.
  • Understanding various pipe support, usage and BOM preparation.
  • Interpretation of Pipe and Structural stress analysis for support and frame design.
  • Need to make bill of material in ERP system (AREV).
  • Knowledge of piping spool fabrication, modeling & drafting in 3d software.
  • Make model, assembly and drawing as per best practices for pipe routing, equipment operation-maintenance feasibility, access requirement, instrument placement and recommendations from various code and standards.
  • Knowledge of skid mount equipment, structure, piping, tubing, panels & cable tray
  • Coordinate with Manufacturing, Quality and Project team for any query and provide resolution.
  • Follow department workflow for Timesheet, Task planning update and EHS policy.
  • Understanding of PLM & ERP system.
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision, attention to detail, self-checking and improvement.
  • Self-motivated for learning and helping others.

  • Autodesk AutoCAD
  • MS Office tools (Word, XL & Power Point)

  • Drawing/sketch/read lines & BOM preparation
  • Hold mark on shop floor
  • Vendor GA drawing & Customer Drawing review and approval

Supervisory Responsibility:

  • This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities but does serve as a coach and mentor for other positions in the department.

Work Environment:

  • This job operates in a professional office environment. This role, routinely uses standard office equipment such as laptop computers, photocopiers, and smartphones

Physical Demands:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand on a stool as necessary.

Qualifications

Education, Experience and Skills:

  • B.E. (Mechanical Engineering) 4 - 7 years of experience for relevant skills.
  • Exposure of code & standard: ASME B31.3, ANSI, ASCE, API, NEMA
  • Proficient in Plant Layout, Interconnecting Piping and Structure modelling using 3D software Plant 3D & Inventor
  • Knowledge of designing Skid based Package solutions will be preferred.
  • Ensure product designs meet required safety and structural standards.
  • Blend technique and aesthetics to create final designs.
