Summary/Objective
To ensure the structural integrity, safety, and efficiency of engineering projects through accurate analysis, design, and optimization of structures and piping systems, while adhering to industry standards, codes, project specifications, regulatory requirements, and best practices.
The requirements listed below represent the knowledge, skills, and abilities required.
Essential Functions/Responsibilities
1. Structural Analysis and Design:
Ø Utilize STAAD.Pro software for structural analysis and design of various types of structures, including Modular Structural Skids, Equipment support structures, and industrial facilities.
Ø Develop structural designs that meet safety, stability, and performance requirements while optimizing material usage and construction costs.
2. Pipeline Stress Analysis:
Ø Use CAESAR II software for pipeline stress analysis to evaluate the behaviour of piping systems under various operating conditions, including thermal expansion, pressure loads, and external forces.
Ø Ensure pipelines are designed to withstand stresses and displacements within allowable limits to prevent structural failure or leakage.
3. Modeling and Simulation:
Ø Create accurate 3D models of structures and piping systems within the respective software environments, considering geometry, material properties, loads, and boundary conditions.
Ø Perform simulations and analyses to predict the behaviour of structures and pipelines, including deflections, stresses, and dynamic response.
4. Code Compliance:
Ø Ensure that structural and piping designs comply with relevant building codes, standards, and regulations applicable to the project location and type of structure or pipeline.
Ø Stay updated on industry codes and standards related to structural engineering and pipeline design to ensure compliance with the latest requirements.
Ø Well verse with local and international design Codes & Standards such as IS, ASME, ASCE, UBC, etc.
5. Interdisciplinary Coordination:
Ø Collaborate with designers, other engineering disciplines, project managers, and stakeholders to integrate structural and piping requirements with overall project goals and constraints.
Ø Coordinate with civil, mechanical, and other engineers to ensure that structural and piping designs are compatible and properly integrated within the overall project.
6. Technical Documentation:
Ø Prepare detailed engineering drawings, calculations, reports, and specifications documenting the structural and piping analysis and design process.
Ø Communicate design decisions, recommendations, and results to Lead Engineer, and other project stakeholders.
7. Quality Assurance:
Ø Conduct quality checks on structural and piping models, analysis results, and design outputs to ensure accuracy, consistency, and compliance with project requirements and industry standards.
Ø Review and verify the work of other engineers or team members to ensure that designs meet quality and performance objectives.
Supervisory Responsibility
Supervisory responsibilities for an Analysis Specialist may include guiding and mentoring junior engineers, coordinating project tasks, third-party vendor management, and ensuring technical accuracy in structural & Piping analysis and design projects.
