Job Overview

Summary: 

Reporting to the Engineering Manager, Sr. Engineer - Design is responsible for executing design and engineering work on-time related to engineering orders and new product developments.

 

Responsibilities

Essential Functions/Responsibilities:

  • Review order documents to generate job specific designs.
  • Prepare and review General Arrangement drawings.
  • Prepare Bills-of-Materials and release to manufacturing on time.
  • Prepare customer submittal engineering documents.
  • 3D component modelling and assembly in CAD tool (SolidWorks & Inventor).
  • Preparing unit package with piping, tubing, and instruments.
  • Preparing manufacturing drawings with dimensions and GD&T.
  • Work and co-ordinate with global engineering center to support with design related activities.
  • Mentor new team members and check work in compliance with company standards.
  • Work as a liaison between departments, project management, suppliers, and the customer to address project design requirements.
  • Review product designs to ensure they meet project specifications and are incompliance with industry regulations.
  • Design test fixtures and layout for required unit test.
  • Address NCR and take proactive actions.
  • Working within PLM to develop, share and manage design data.
  • Documentation of engineering data.

Education and Experience 

  • BE in Mechanical Engineering
  • Minimum 5-7 years of professional work experience is required.
  • Specific industry experience is strongly preferred.

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Detailed and well-organized.
  • Skilled in time management, prioritizing and managing changing priorities in fast-paced environment.
  • Experience in rotating equipment / centrifugal pumps is preferred.
  • CAD tool knowledge is essential (SolidWorks and Inventor are preferred)
  • Understanding of form, fit and function, GD&T and manufacturing processes are required.
  • Drawing dimensioning and applying GD&T is required.
  • Good analytical skills and attention to detail are required.
  • MS Office proficiency.
  • Experience w/ ERP system preferred.

Work Environment

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as laptops, computers, photocopiers, and smartphones.

 

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand on a stool as necessary.
