The Electrical Design Engineer is responsible for developing and finalizing detailed engineering drawings and documentation for projects in the US and Europe. This role requires expertise in electrical design, adherence to international standards, and the ability to coordinate with global teams. The position includes generating comprehensive schematics, ensuring regulatory compliance, and producing supportive technical documentation. The ideal candidate has strong technical skills, experience with industry-standard software, and the ability to manage complex projects, contributing to successful project execution from initial design through final documentation and handover.
Responsibilities:
Detailed Electrical Design and Drafting.
Develop detailed electrical drawings, layouts, and schematics for commercial and industrial projects, ensuring compliance with regional standards and client specifications.
Generate electrical design documents, including single-line diagrams, wiring layouts, and control panel designs.
Collaborate with mechanical and structural engineers to integrate electrical systems within overall project designs.
Project Coordination and Collaboration.
Work closely with cross-functional teams in the US, Europe, and other regions to understand project requirements and ensure timely delivery of design documents.
Participate in project kick-offs, design reviews, and progress meetings to provide technical insights and updates on design development.
Coordinate with the client and project management team to address feedback, incorporate revisions, and meet all documentation requirements.
Compliance and Standards
Ensure all designs conform to relevant international standards (e.g., NEC, IEC, NFPA) and client-specific requirements.
Stay updated on changes in electrical codes and standards across the US and Europe, implementing best practices and regulatory requirements in all designs.
Documentation and Supportive Materials, Prepare and maintain technical documentation, including BOMs, equipment specifications, and installation guidelines.
Develop operation and maintenance manuals, testing procedures, and project reports to support commissioning and handover phases.
Review and finalize engineering drawings and documents for submission, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and adherence to client requirements.
Software and Tools Utilization, Use AutoCAD, EPLAN, ETAP (basic), and other electrical design software to produce detailed designs and conduct simulations as required.
Perform load calculations, short-circuit analysis, and other electrical assessments to validate design reliability and safety.
Utilize PLM and document management systems to track, manage, and update project documentation.
Quality Assurance and Troubleshooting
Conduct internal reviews and QA/QC checks of designs to identify potential issues or areas for improvement.
Support on-site teams during installation, providing design clarification and resolving technical queries as needed.
Assist in troubleshooting and optimizing electrical systems to meet project specifications and performance criteria.

Design Approval and Verification
Authority to create, review, and approve detailed electrical designs, schematics, and layouts in alignment with project requirements and standards.
Make final decisions on design modifications and technical specifications to meet compliance and project goals.
Project Documentation Control
Authority to develop, approve, and release engineering drawings, BOMs, and technical documents.
Ensure the accuracy and consistency of project documentation, and approve changes or updates as needed.
Standards and Compliance Enforcement
Ensure all designs comply with relevant US and European standards, codes, and regulations, and address any non-conformities within project designs.
Authority to halt design processes if regulatory requirements are not met until corrective actions are implemented.
Cross-functional Collaboration
Engage with project teams, clients, and third-party consultants to communicate design intent and technical requirements.
Authority to request information, resources, and support from other departments to facilitate design accuracy and project success.
Quality Assurance and Risk Mitigation
Authority to conduct QA/QC reviews of all electrical designs and documents, identifying and addressing potential issues proactively.
Implement and enforce design best practices and risk mitigation strategies to ensure project reliability and efficiency.
Resource Allocation and Scheduling
Authority to prioritize tasks, allocate resources, and adjust project timelines in coordination with the project management team to meet deadlines.
Technical Support and Problem Resolution
Provide technical support to installation and commissioning teams, addressing design-related queries and resolving technical issues during project execution.
Authority to make on-site decisions regarding design adjustments to accommodate real-world challenges and constraints, within agreed project parameters.

Education, Experience and Skills:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Technology, or a related field.
Minimum of 6 years of experience in electrical design engineering, preferably for US and European projects.
Proficiency in AutoCAD-ELECTRICAL, EPLAN.
Demonstrated leadership and supervisory skills, with the ability to effectively manage a team and prioritize tasks.
Strong knowledge of electrical codes, standards, and regulations (e.g., NEC, IEC).
Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
Excellent communication and coordination skills, with experience working in a cross-functional, global environment.
Detail-oriented, analytical, and able to manage multiple projects with competing deadlines.
Preferred Skills:
Familiarity with project management principles, including timelines, budgets, and resource allocation.
Experience with energy-efficient design practices and sustainable technologies.
