Job Overview

Summary/Objective:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Engineer - Technical Projects to join our team in the Cryogenic Air Separation Unit (ASU) industry. The successful candidate will focus on project engineering while ensuring alignment with project design basis, contracts, and overall company objectives. The role involves managing multiple projects, coordinating with cross-functional teams, and driving technical excellence in project execution.

Responsibilities

Essential Functional:  

  • Responsibilities:
    • Lead and manage the engineering aspects of projects, ensuring alignment with project design basis, contract, and defined scope.
    • Handle multiple projects simultaneously while ensuring alignment with broader company goals.
    • Work closely with engineering departments, particularly Process, Instrumentation, and Design teams.
    • Clarify the scope and boundary limits of new projects.
    • Prepare P&ID Major component specifications.
    • Collaborate with vendors and the process team for major equipment selection.
    • Conduct stage-wise P&ID reviews and actively participate in HAZOP studies with the Process Department and customers.
    • Finalize the P&ID part list in collaboration with the engineering team.
    • Lead the preliminary and final layout finalization with the Design Department.
    • Provide engineering support and conduct modular design reviews at 30%, 60%, and 90% completion stages.
    • Ensure timely delivery of engineering documents as per the project schedule.
    • Address technical queries to ensure project progress.
    • Document lessons learned throughout the project and conduct a post-project review with the team to drive continuous improvement.
    • Engage in technical discussions on new projects with group companies.

Authorities:

    • Technical Decision-Making: Authorized to make informed technical decisions regarding project design, scope, and execution within the defined engineering framework.
    • Technical / Engineering Leadership: Has the authority to lead and manage engineering activities across multiple projects, ensuring compliance with project design basis and contract requirements.
    • Engineering Documentation Review/Approval: Authorized to review, approve, and finalize engineering documents such as P&IDs, modular designs, and technical specifications at various project stages (30%, 60%, and 90%).
    • Vendor & Supplier Coordination: Empowered to engage with vendors and suppliers for technical clarifications, major equipment selection, and component validation.
    • PO Booking Sheet Release: Authorized to review, approve, and release PO Booking Sheets to ensure procurement aligns with project requirements, technical specifications, and engineering needs.
    • HAZOP Compliance: Has the authority to participate in and influence HAZOP studies, ensuring process safety and compliance with industry standards.
    • Project Scope Definition: Authorized to clarify and define project boundary limits in alignment with company objectives.
    • Technical Issue Resolution: Has the authority to analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve internal and external technical challenges, including supplier-related issues.
    • Stakeholder Communication & Coordination: Authorized to interface with cross-functional teams, group companies, and external stakeholders to align project engineering activities and resolve technical issues.
    • Risk Assessment & Mitigation: Has the authority to evaluate project risks and implement mitigation strategies to ensure smooth execution.
    • Process & Continuous Improvement: Authorized to document and drive lessons learned from projects, contributing to process improvements and best practices.

 

Supervisory Responsibility:

This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities but does serve as a coach and mentor for other positions in the department

 

Work Environment:

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as laptop computers, photocopiers, and smartphones.

 

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand on a stool as necessary.

Qualifications

Education, Experience and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical, Chemical, or relevant engineering discipline.
  • Minimum 7-10 years of experience in project engineering within the Cryogenic ASU industry.
  • Strong understanding of P&ID Parts, HAZOP studies, and process instrumentation.
  • Experience managing multiple projects with cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to make informed technical decisions.
  • Strong vendor and supplier coordination expertise.
  • Exceptional communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to analyze risks and implement mitigation strategies.
  • Understanding of various engineering disciplines and manufacturing processes.
  • Knowledge of project process engineering tasks, design, and operations.
  • Skilled in technical problem-solving for internal and external challenges, including supplier-related issues.
  • Knowledge of AREV ERP for parts selection and top assembly work order structure preparation.
  • Strong interface management with project stakeholders to resolve project issues effectively.
  • Ability to influence and control vendors regarding P&ID, parts selection, and ordering.
  • Focused on meeting technical milestones and ensuring project delivery within deadlines.
