Job Overview

Responsible for end-to-end development of centrifugal and reciprocating pumps including concept design, 3D modeling, first article development, casting/machining validation, supplier qualification, and product testing. Ensures compliance with ISO, ASME, API, marine class standards while driving product quality and manufacturability.

Responsibilities

 - Lead pump product development across concept, feasibility, design, prototyping, testing, and launch.
- Prepare/review design documents including drawings, BOMs, specifications, P&IDs, manuals.
- Select tolerances, assembly methods, special tools, repair procedures.
- Plan and execute first article development for cast and machined pump components.
- Validate casting/machining processes through audits, inspections, and supplier development.
- Ensure compliance with API, ASME, ISO,, DNV, ABS, Lloyd’s, PED and other standards.
- Coordinate cross‑functional teams for new part introduction, cost optimization, and process improvements.

- Develop centrifugal and reciprocating pumps including cryogenic/marine applications.
- Perform CAD modeling, calculations, engineering documentation, and validation planning.
- Drive supplier qualification, approval, audits, and continuous improvement.
- Execute first article inspection, review non‑conformities, and approve components.
- Support testing – functional, reliability, durability – and analyze results.
- Collaborate with Sourcing, Quality, Manufacturing, R&D and customers.
- Mentor junior engineers in design, development, and casting/machining practices.

 

Authorities:

 

- Approve technical drawings, specifications, and first article reports.
- Recommend supplier approvals/rejections based on process capability.
- Drive engineering decisions related to pump design, materials, tolerances, and processes.
- Escalate quality or supplier issues affecting product performance or delivery.

 

Supervisory Responsibility:

May mentor and guide junior engineers; no direct reporting staff.

 

Work Environment:

Office, shop‑floor, and supplier manufacturing locations. Exposure to machining, casting foundries, assembly/testing areas, and inspection facilities.

 

Physical Demands:

May require standing during inspections, factory visits, handling components for review, and participating in pump testing activities.

Qualifications

Education, Experience and Skills:

- Bachelor’s Degree/Diploma in Mechanical/Production Engineering.
- 5–11 years in pump product development, casting/machining, and first article activities.
- Strong CAD (SolidWorks), P&ID, mechanical design calculation proficiency.
- Knowledge of casting, forging, machining, tolerances, and pressure‑containing components.
- Experience with ISO 9001, ASME, API, marine class rules (DNV, ABS, Lloyd’s).
- Supplier qualification, audits, value engineering, process validation.
