Job Overview

Reporting to the Sr. Design Engineer, CAD Designer is responsible for creating detailed manufacturing drawings in SolidWorks, ensuring all parts and fits meet precise technical standards. Use SolidWorks Composer to produce clear technical graphics and exploded views for manuals, ensuring all work is high-quality and completed on schedule.

Responsibilities

Essential Function/Responsibilities:

 

  • Issue drawings for machined parts, including tolerances, fits, detailed instructions, and definition of mechanical fits.
  • Issue assembly drawings.
  • Select or design special tools needed for assembly and repair.
  • Create and modify bills of materials.
  • Perform 3D modeling in SolidWorks of pump components and create assemblies.
  • Select mechanical components and incorporate them into the model.
  • Prepare simple Process & Instruments Diagrams (P&ID).
  • Utilize SolidWorks Composer to generate high-quality technical graphics and "SMG" files for use in technical manuals and documentation.
  • Create "de-featured" shell models from supplier data, ensuring external visual representation is maintained while removing sensitive internal cavity data.
  • Produce exploded views and 2D vector graphics (SVG) from 3D models for use in parts catalogs and online technical platforms.
  • Perform other duties as assigned in line with key objectives.

Supervisory Responsibility:

This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities.

 

Work Environment:

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as laptops, computers, photocopiers, and smartphones.

 

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand on a stool as necessary.

Qualifications

Education, Experience and Skills:

  • Diploma/bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering with 3+ years of professional background
  • Proficient with assembling and manufacturing tolerance classes (GD&T).
  • Experience utilizing SolidWorks for 3D modeling and 2D detailing of components and assemblies.
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks Composer.
  • Ability to manage data protection during the export process, including scaling models and converting files to neutral formats like STEP.
  • Skilled at providing clear drawings in accordance with recommended practices.
  • Accustomed to reading and writing short technical specifications.
  • Experience working with an ERP system.
  • Well-organized, disciplined, pragmatic, accurate, reliable team-worker, self-standing, and professional work ethic.
