Structural Engineer II

 To ensure the structural integrity, safety, and efficiency of engineering projects through accurate analysis, design, and optimization of structures and piping systems, while adhering to industry standards, codes, project specifications, regulatory requirements, and best practices.The requirements listed below represent the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary for this role.

Essential Functions:

• Responsibilities: 

1. Structural Analysis and Design:

• Utilize STAAD.Pro software for structural analysis and AutoCAD for design of various types of structures, including Modular Structural Skids, Equipment support structure, and industrial facilities.
• Develop structural designs that meet safety, stability, and performance requirements while optimizing material usage and construction costs. 

2. Modelling and Simulation:

• Create accurate 3D models of structures and piping systems within the respective software environments, considering geometry, material properties, loads, and boundary conditions.
• Perform simulations and analyses to predict the behaviour of structures, including deflections, stresses, and dynamic response. 

3. Code Compliance:

• Ensure that structural designs comply with relevant building codes, standards, and regulations applicable to the project location and type of structure.
• Stay updated on industry codes and standards related to structural engineering to ensure compliance with the latest requirements.
• Well verse with local and international design Codes & Standards such as IS, ASCE, UBC, etc. 

4. Interdisciplinary Coordination:

• Collaborate with designers & Customer, other engineering disciplines, project managers, Production team, Purchase and stakeholders to integrate structural requirements with overall project goals and constraints.
• Coordinate with civil, mechanical, and other engineers to ensure that structural designs are compatible and properly integrated within the overall project. 

5. Technical Documentation:

• Prepare detailed engineering drawings, calculations, reports, and specifications documenting the structural analysis and design process.
• Communicate design decisions, recommendations, and results to Lead Engineer or reporting manager, and other project stakeholders.

6. Quality Assurance:

• Conduct quality checks on structural models, analysis results, and design outputs to ensure accuracy, consistency, and compliance with project requirements and industry standards.
• Review and verify the work of other engineers or team members to ensure that designs meet quality and performance objectives.

• Authorities: 

1. Design Approval:

• Authority to design and approve structural components and systems within defined limits of complexity and budget. 

2. Project Oversight:

• Ability to oversee and manage specific aspects of structural projects, including the design, analysis, and implementation phases. 

3. Review and Sign-Off:

• Authority to review and sign off on design calculations, structural drawings, and related documentation before submission for regulatory approvals or client review. 

4. Client Interaction:

• Authority to interact with clients to discuss project requirements, provide technical advice, and address any concerns or modifications needed. 

5. Compliance Enforcement:

• Authority to enforce compliance with industry standards, codes, and regulatory requirements within the scope of the projects they handle.

Supervisory Responsibility:

Supervisory responsibilities for a Structural Engineer may include guiding and mentoring junior engineers, coordinating project tasks, third party vendor management and ensuring technical accuracy in structural analysis and design projects.

Work Environment:

The work environment for a Structural Engineer typically involves office settings, though some fieldwork or site visits may be necessary for project assessments or client meetings. The work may involve collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, including civil engineers, mechanical engineers, and project managers. Additionally, they spend a significant amount of time utilizing specialized software, conducting analysis, preparing reports, and communicating with designers and Project managers.

Physical Demands:

Physical demands for a Structural Engineer are typical of office-based professional roles, with minimal physical exertion but potential for occasional travel and extended computer use.

Education, Experience and Skills:

• Bachelor/Master Degree in Civil Engineering/Structural Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum 3 to 10 years of experience with structural design & analysis.
• Familiarity with local and international industry standards, codes, and regulations applicable to structural engineering.
• Proficiency in relevant software tools:
• Proficiency in STAAD.Pro structural analysis software.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD structural design software.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for interpreting engineering requirements and solving complex technical challenges.
• Knowledge of building codes, regulations, and industry standards. Well-versed with international codes like ASME, ASCE-360, AISC-360, IBC, UBC, AS-4100, AS-1170, SP 16.13330, EN 1090, etc.
• Excellent communication skills for collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, clients, and stakeholders.
• Attention to detail and ability to produce accurate engineering drawings, reports, and technical documentation.
• Relevant certifications or training in STAAD.Pro software may be beneficial, demonstrating proficiency in using these tools for engineering analysis and design.
